Manta point
Here around Nusa Penida, we are very fortunate to have access to a resident population of manta rays with just under 700 individuals identified in the population. The manta rays in this area are the reef manta ray, Mobula alfredi. There have been a few oceanic manta rays, Mobula birostris, sighted in the area, although this is an extremely rare occurrence. Nusa Penida is one of the best places to see these majestic Manta rays all year round.
Manta Point is located south of Nusa Penida. In the middle of a bay surrounded by cliffs, this plankton-rich dive site acts as a "cleaning station" for manta rays. Indeed, they have the habit of staying above a pinnacle to be dewormed by cleaner fish. While waiting for their turn, they revolve around the divers having fun with the bubbles.
Our guides were able to count up to 20 mantas during our dives. So you can see them almost all year round on this dive site, which has become a must in Nusa Penida!
In addition, it is possible to come across bamboo sharks, blue-spotted stingrays, eagle rays, octopus and nudibranchs.
This site is accessible regardless of your diving level and snorkeling. Whether you are a snorkeler, an experienced diver or you want to live your first diving experience (Intro dive or Discover scuba diver), if manta rays are present on the cleaning station, you will be able to observe them.
Likewise if you choose to train within Penida Breizh Divers, we will make every effort to ensure that one of your training dives takes place on Manta Point.
There is not just one way to explore this dive site.
So you can decide to dive only on the main cleaning station and the secondary stations located nearby to exclusively enjoy manta rays.
For more experienced divers, or who have already dived on this site and want to discover it in another way, we can offer you a dive with a different typography (small drop-offs, canyons) on which it is possible to cross Mola- mola (in season), sharks, rays of different species, and many other species.
NOTE :
All the dives offered are subject to good weather conditions; these can change quickly. Therefore, for security reasons, we reserve the
right to cancel dives or to modify and adapt the planned program at any time.
See our Terms and conditions in case of cancellation, termination or for payment terms.
